The old adage, “together we stand, divided we fall” is no truer than today, no truer than in the field of education. In today’s world the teacher is seen as the problem. But, we all know that is not the case; the teacher, in most instances, is actually the answer. That is why we need to stand together, stand strong, stand as one united voice; we cannot afford to wait and hope that one day things will get better. We must step outside our comfort zones and create the change for the future of our profession, the future of our schools, and most importantly the future of our children. As an AFT steering committee member, I will work as hard as I can to bring that voice together, work to make sure our voice is heard.
