Miriam Moncivais, Liberty Middle School - Middle School Teacher Nominee

I am an active teacher at Liberty Middle School for Seven years. I am a Science UIL coach, team leader, PBIS committee member, and an organizer for our Big Brother/Big Sister program. I believe that the learning environment of our students should not be compromised by any classroom disruptions. I believe that as a veteran teacher I have sat idle as administration looks the other way to any disciplinary interruption. I have been fighting against the lack of support from administration and above. I have been participant to the meetings with Mr. Juan Alvarez and Dr. King, which focused on our members concern. I firmly believe that we should not be afraid to ask the questions that will enrich our students learning environment and reduce the classroom interruptions that occur in our classroom. Every teacher should have access to referrals and feel confidant that administration will support us. Teachers should not be frustrated with planning periods, excessive paperwork, and poor discipline. It is time that we stand united and fight for our student’s best interest. I will continue to work hard to secure that every teacher feels fulfilled and supported with the culture at PSJA.
